Press_release_11 Not a lot of business owners know that they can write a press release and submit it to the local news affiliates and try to get some free advertising. If you are having a special event for the community or have been given an award for something that has benefitted the community, local news will often publicize these events on slow new days.

Some examples of events would be free health care expos, free give away of products, charity sponsored events and grand openings. If you get an award from the BBB or any other notable organizations you may want to consider presenting a press release.

These types of events are good for small businesses because they show the company’s involvement in the community, increases awareness and builds a positive reputation for the business. Plus, studies have shown consumers trust new reports more than advertising.

There is a format you must follow before you submit your story. The story also has to written in a matter ready for print or for air, depending on the medium you are submitting to.
