We all know that things change in a blink of an eye and before we know it, we are left in the dark. I’ve also noticed the older you get, the farther you are from being in the loop. This can be a bad thing if you’re in a business that attracts a younger, tech-savvy crowd.
Just this week my niece, Jacqueline, was telling me about a new app called Foursquare. She showed me how it worked and how it could benefit some of our clients. National chains are using this app to advertise through their customers, giving them discounts and free products for merely “checking in.”
I was surprised I hadn’t heard about this, another reminder that things change so quickly. I mean, I just got used to the whole Facebook sensation and how it helps business. Now there is this whole new trend starting and I had no idea! Then I started to think of my clients and wondered if they’re keeping up with the new developments in marketing.
It’s hard to keep up with all the new things coming out and knowing which ones actually work. But not participating in the latest marketing trends can leave you lagging amongst your competitors. So what are you to do? Use your best judgment. Research new trends, ask your customers if they’ve heard about or use that medium and see if it would be worth it to your business.
