It depends on how you use them and what you want it to do. If you want to use all of your advertising dollars on billboards, that’s probably not a good idea.
Billboards are usually used in creating brand awareness and act as reminders. Next time you are out driving a take a look at the billboards. You’ll notice the better ones have very little text and strong imagery, some may even tell you which exit to get off of to visit the advertised business.
Billboards are very hard to track in terms of measuring effectiveness and amount of exposures. So if you do use this medium don’t expect a dramatic increase in sales or people knocking down the door because they saw your billboard.
If your business is right off the interstate a billboard maybe a good way to go. If you want to build up your brand and increase its awareness in a certain region you may want to look into a billboard. I’m a big supporter of marketing and advertising, only if you are doing it for the right reasons.
I suggest you research the pros and cons of different types of media and invest in the ones that help you meet your goals. Remember if you need help or advice on creating your campaign; call my office at 915-857-8158. We’ll be happy to set-up an appointment.
