If you hire qualified employees age 16 or 17 for the summer, you may also benefit from a credit equal to 25 percent of the first $3,000 of wages (maximum credit of $750 per qualified worker).
Here are the requirements to qualify for the credit:
- Must perform work for the employer between May 1st and September 15th
- Must be between the ages of 16 and 17 on the hiring date (or by May 1st of the year involved)
- Has not worked for the employer before
- Lives within a Federal Empowerment Zone or Enterprise Community
