Hiring the right people is always a gamble, especially when it comes to hiring your sales personnel. During the interviewing process, a candidate may seem fully capable but fall short once they are hired.
Let me start by saying, there is NO surefire way of knowing if an employee is going to fit your needs until they’re on the job. But, you can use the BATH method to help make the best choice.
BATH stands for:
B-Buy – The candidate has to buy into your concepts. How can anyone sell something they don’t believe in?
A– Able- They have to be able to perform all the tasks related to the job.
T– Team Player – They have to work well with others. As we all know, this can lead to problems down the road.
H– Hungry- Any good salesperson is always hungry for the kill.
If your new salesperson meets all of these elements, you are heading in the right direction. You still need to check references and make sure the individual is the right fit for your organization. Keep these key points in mind and you will hire a successful sales team.
