A great way to start marketing is evaluating your products to determine what type of selling technique(s) would work best with each product.
As I mentioned in my last marketing tip of the week, the book Getting Business to Come to You suggests making a grid of your product and services and types of selling (personal selling, postcards, referrals, point of sale displays, etc.) and then rate them based on their chance of success with each selling technique.
By doing this, you can easily narrow down where you need to focus your marketing dollars and energy. As a small business owner, I know how valuable time and money are. That is why I try to help all small business owners utilize them both more efficiently.
By creating a chart with every product and service and rating them next to various sales techniques will give you a great visual of where to start your marketing. This will also eliminate most of the guess work out of creating marketing plan.
