Increasing sales to current customers is the fastest and cheapest way to quickly boost your sales. Your current customers already know you, like you, and trust you. The best thing you can do is give them a reason to come back and make a new purchase.
When you send weekly emails to your customers, it reminds them of how you helped them with previous purchases and ensures that they keep you in mind. Businesses lose more customers due to a lack of attention by the company than any other reason. When you don’t contact the customer, they will forget you or just think you don’t care.
The weekly email is also a great way to ask for referrals. I recently had a client ask me if I knew a good plumber. I remembered someone who did a great job for me over a holiday weekend. But for the life of me, I couldn’t remember his name! By not getting my contact information and emailing me, he lost the opportunity to get a new customer.
So what should you put in this email? Here is an example of what you could include:
- A coupon for the email special of the week. People like coupons and will use them.
- A short description of one of your products that highlights the features, advantages, and benefits (FAB) of the product. This is designed to educate the customer about your products. Remember, an educated customer buys more!
- An invitation to join your frequent buyer program with a link to your website where you outline it in detail.
- A quick mention about your referral program. This should also be linked to your website where you give more details.
